The Man with the French-white Ladder Makes Stolen Soup
The man with the French-white ladder
Has made his way out, yes, once more
Filling a bag with some radishes
He takes from the neighborhood store
The man with the French-white ladder
With capers and carrots and spice
Will stew them all up in a great cauldron pot
Making soup that’s quite tasty and nice
The man with the French-white ladder
Next day, he’ll go out to the street
And serve out this fine radish soup he’s made
To each stranger and neighbor he meets
He’s a scoundrel, true, and a dastardly crook
And there’s no way to spin it around
But endeared to the hearts of the hungry and poor
He’s a chum to so many in town
