Cordon Bleu
A disguise I’ve made
with intention to
Order a meal
of Cordon Bleu.
So long I’ve smelled it
and it’s not fair
That they won’t serve
this hungry bear.

The Lady with the Flowered Hat
Marianna Terrance
Wears a most stupendous hat.
People stop and stare at her
No matter where she’s at.
All along the brim of it
Bloom flowers in clay pots.
And more than just a few are there
There’s really rather lots.
And when she has been indoors
Or sitting in the shade,
The flowers all begin to wilt
And seem as though they’ll fade.
But then she goes and walks about
In sunshine and in rain.
The flowers all get what they need
And start to bloom again.

In Waiting
What sounds do you make? What songs do you sing?
What marches and romps are you able?
For my curiosity rises up and up
While you stand there, still on the table.

Each Step Along the Way
Step by step I’ve climbed this hill
I’m sure I’m near the top
And coming close to what I seek
I’ve determined not to stop.
Though I’ve grown quite weary
With every step to bear,
If I stop now I’ll be stuck here
And never will reach there.
So on I go and up the hill
Until I reach my goal.
The journey and the journey’s end
Both precious to my soul.

The Earl of Pies
Bring the pies and set them here
And make of them a stack,
We have need for many more
These few are just a snack.
Let’s fill some rooms and then some vaults,
A warehouse and a cellar.
And then let’s start a bank account
And please do tell the teller.
To make some extra vacancy
That pies will soon roll in
They’ll pile up and take the place
Where jewels and cash had been
And if he seems to doubt you
If you see it in his eyes
Then tell him just to wait and see—
For I’m the Earl of Pies!
