In Protest of Rhymes
Must you always make them rhyme
These poems that you write?
You know that’s not an absolute
Though they sometimes bring delight
Poetry’s an open land
With rules that bend and break
And one more rhyming poem, sir,
I truly cannot take
For though I am a patient beast
These pairings I’ll not bear
I must request that you desist
And other art-forms share
Then maybe when I’ve rested up
And had a chance to breathe
We can see what new ideas
You’ve gotten up your sleeve
